Thank you for visiting. A bit about me…

I’m the proud mother of two intelligent, creative, talented, and delightful sons.  I am blessed to have them in my life and count them as my best friends.  When we get together we enjoy hiking, cooking, laughter, and lively conversations.

Recently I retired from a career in office and facilities management. Or as my 1960’s self would have said…”I’m no longer working for the man”.

With my new found time and freedom I plan to explore my creative streak, and become active with organizations aimed at protecting our planet from the ravages of Climate Change, and those which promote social equity and justice.

Before I can do so fully, I’m taking a long-planned trip circumnavigating the “Lower 48” to visit family and friends starting April 2, 2021.  Whilst raising children and taking a couple of weeks of vacation a year, there was never enough time before.

I spent the first year of the pandemic converting “Kate the Van” from a compact cargo into a camper van.  Or as I like to think of her…a beach shack on wheels.  I’m so grateful to my family, who granted me the use of their tools, mentored me in carpentry, and graciously let me camp out while I was building. I also took short trips to Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Utah to test things out, and refine Kate’s kit.

I’ll be blogging every few weeks about the trip from the blog page. If you’re interested, you can subscribe for email versions of new posts. Just scroll down the right side, click subscribe, and enter your email.
